On August 4, 1955, 20 Celanese employees met with a representative from the North Carolina Credit Union League. That meeting produced an organization named after two neighboring roads, Sharon Road and Fairview Road, thus Sharonview Federal Credit Union. Sharonview started operations with about $11, 000 in assets. In 1957, business had increased to the point that our 1st paid employee was hired.
